Hillside Escape, Matakana
Situated in a field that rises steeply behind our client’s home is the Olive Grove Cabin, a small structure designed to take advantage of wonderful views of the valley, a well established garden, and Mt. Tamahunga in the distance. Nestled in amongst rows of olive trees, the cabin provides a cosy spot to sleep or relax.
The Northeast facing cabin is clad with a Japanese cedar rain screen, which opens on one side to reveal a large window. This offers a greater degree of privacy, and casts beautiful shadows when closed. Zinc panels surround the large extended window seat. The flooring of the cabin is rough-sawn Lawson’s cypress, and internal linings are poplar and southern beech.
